It opened his eyes to the potential in a more qualitative approach to coffee farming, and soon after he began planting more desirable varietals, such as Gesha, Pink Bourbon and Chiroso, while also refining his processing methods. He’s a longtime coffee industry veteran (barista, trainer, and manager since the late ’90s) who also works as an actor and filmmaker in New York. He launched Anomalous in the summer of 2020 when pandemic shutdowns paused film work, took over roasting at MUD Coffee, and decided to go all-in on the kind of coffees that don’t play by the usual rules.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"auto\"\u003eThe name is intentional: they’re focused on rare, unusual, and “anomalous” lots, the ones that clearly deviate from the standard, normal, or expected.
